Scouting Spring Fishing Locations

So, today I went to Deer Creek to scout some early spring fishing locations. I've been following the Tactical Bassing youtube channel and lately a lot of their content has been around preparation for spring. So, it only seemed natural that I take a look and see what there was. I spent a fair bit of time looking over maps and charts of lakes and I've identified a handful of locations to fish that I've never tried before. Some of those are at places I've never fished before, some - like Deer Creek I've fished many times but have never turned anything up.

For Deer Creek specifically, I've always tried to shore fish from the sides of the long peninsula that stretches out into the water. The reality of that location is that its a long wide shallow flat - which I'm sure is a great place for fish, depending on the time of year, but never when I've been there. So, its definitely time for a new strategy.

Last year, was a great year for fishing for me - I caught more fish in one summer than I'd caught in all the rest of my adult life - combined. So here's to hoping that 2021 then is at least as good, if only just for the fishing.
